Most business owners and professionals have multiple computers. Usually, there’s one for personal use, business and travel. When you’re away from the main office, but need to access a certain client’s file or work with your database, having remote access can be a life saver.

No longer do you have to worry about constantly syncing your different devices to your main database… just use the internet to hop on the computer, like a ghost!

If you’re using Windows XP Pro, ensure that you have “remote desktop” enabled on your system and that you have the computer connected to the internet. If you don’t have XP Pro, you’ll need to download a special remote access software like GoToMyPC.com, LogMeIn.com, ISLOnline.com or others. They usually have a free trial period so you can ensure you like the service.

Once you’re connected to the internet, and have either a remote access software or “remote desktop” activated on both your local and remote computer, you’ll be able to turn on the remote computer, manage and manipulate your database and even send files if necessary.

So whether your on a plane, at the beach or working from home, don’t worry about syncing, if you can just hop online and control your desktop from anywhere!

Note that if you don’t have remote desktop and don’t want to pay a monthly fee for a remote access software service, you can purchase the GoldMine add-on called iGoldMinePlus.
