In this post we’ll look at integrating your GoldMine address book with your Outlook address book to ELIMINATE manual address entry and save you time.

One of the prevailing themes in this month’s posts is the idea of “integration”. Whether it’s integrating between smart phones or Microsoft platforms like Outlook, the goal of integration is to make your life easier.

Now as a side note, GoldMine has a robust email client already built in. One that’s easier and faster to use than Outlook. But people continue to use Outlook because they’re familiar with it. Since I can’t change peoples habits with one blog post, I’ll give you some tips here to help make your Outlook use a bit easier.

Note: This post assumes that you’ve already installed GISMO, the integration tool that links GoldMine to Outlook. (Basically, it adds a small GoldMine toolbar to Outlook) If you don’t have GISMO, an acronym for GoldMine Integration Services for Microsoft Outlook, you can download it for free via NetUpdate.

How To Add Your GoldMine Address Book To Outlook

Step 1: In Outlook, click Tools > E-mail Accounts. The E-mail Accounts wizard will appear.

Step 2: Under “Directory”, select “Add a new directory or address book.” Click the Next button to bring up the “Directory or Address Type” dialog box.

Step 3: Select “Additional Address Books” and click next.

Step 4: Select the “GoldMine Address Book” and again, click next. At this point, the “GISMO” dialog box appears.

NOTE: (you’re not done yet, but if the “GoldMine Path” text box is empty or incorrect, click “Browse” to locate the correct gmw.exe file)

Step 5: Type your GoldMine Username and Password. Click “Select” and then “OK”.

Step 6: Again, click “OK” to verify changes are applied the next time Outlook is run. Click “OK”once again to save changes.

Step 7: Exit and re-open Outlook!

AND YOUR DONE! Your GoldMine address book is now linked with Outlook. Now you’ll save your self a bunch of manual address entry into Outlook. And just like that, you’re saving a few seconds here and there. What will you do with all that free time?! 🙂 Stay tuned for more posts coming soon and we invite you to comment with questions or thoughts, below!
